Oldies but Goodies for Standout Candidates

By Darla Mayse, Sourcing and Recruiting Marketing Specialist

When most hear the phrase “oldie but goodie” nine times out ten there is a song involved. A song that takes us back to a time or place in our lives where something significant was going on. My friends always tease me because I listen to a lot of what they call “old school” music. All I can say is, I know good music when I hear it and its worth replaying!.

In this week’s post the phrase “oldie but goodie” will reference a few of our blog posts that are worth repeating.  Make sure you bookmark them and have them handy when preparing for that interview with Sodexo.
If you are a subscriber to this blog, you know by now that we are all about providing tips and resources that will help potential candidates become standout candidates.  Readers get the inside scoop from our recruiters, employees and even our hiring managers on what it takes as well as what it is like to work for Sodexo.  Now you can access them in one location.  Simply click on the links for the full posts.
A good place to start is with your resume. It is the tool that gets your foot in the door, if done correctly.  What could be better than a resume check list from a Sodexo recruiter? A sample resume from a Sodexo recruiter to help make your resume standout in the crowd.  Either of these posts will get you started in the right direction.
So now that you’ve gotten your resume together, how is your job search coming along? Are you networking – socially and in person or are you a lazy job seeker? If not, either way you could use advice from our recruiters who share what they would do if looking for a job.
Okay, you got a call. Now, how do you prepare for the interview? Interviewing is kind of like karaoke.  Are you confident?  Too confident? Are you prepared? Are you ready for a performance of a lifetime? This post will help you get you what you need so that you are prepared for both.
The interview went well. You are certain you are more than qualified for the job.  Unfortunately, you received word that although you were qualified, you were not the BEST qualified.  Perhaps you were not the right fit for that position and account.   Do not be discouraged, Sodexo offers many unique career opportunities. Searching for them is so easy.  Also, create a job agent so that you are one of the first to hear about them.
I’ve highlighted just a few of our “oldies but goodies” jobseeker resources blog posts.  You can find many more of these tips here.  Actually, the advice is good  even if you are not applying with us, but we sure hope you are.
