Environmental Services Candidates Rub Elbows with Sodexo

By Guest Bloggers Amy Brooks, Trisha Gary and Gina Smethurst.
Sodexo Recruiter’s Amy Brooks, Trisha Gary and Gina Smethurst were invited to participate as Exhibitors at the Association for the Healthcare Environment Conference (formerly ASHES) at the Gaylord Hotel & Resort in Orlando, Fla. Our adventure started with Trisha’s luggage being lost, which was an issue considering we were invited to attend the Welcome Reception later that evening!

The Welcome Reception was designed as a meet and greet for all participants including some unique four legged guests. At the reception, we were formally introduced to a 1 year old crocodile named Willie Bite. Willie was a hit at the reception and created a lot of conversation.
Trisha’s luggage finally arrived at 4 a.m. so she was able to wear her Sodexo “uniform” and we were off to a great start on the second day. At our first meeting that day we had the luxury of attending a working lunch meeting with our Environmental Services (ES) Brand Management Team and discussed some of the successes and challenges within ES.
The ES Brand Management Team is a strong source of how we get our ES managers trained and ready for new and existing accounts. We’d like to give them a “shout out” for taking turns networking at our Sodexo booth with us. We think that Linton Fox could have a second career as a recruiter. He did a fantastic job interacting with all of the potential Sodexo candidates; we’ll have to see his phone screens first!

At our Sodexo booth we were able to visit with several potential candidates where we informed them of Sodexo’s culture, opportunities, mission and vision. Later that evening, we were invited to the Sodexo reception where we were fortunate enough to meet face to face with several of our Hiring Managers. It was a prime opportunity to put a face with a name and catch up about recent events.
By the final day of the conference, we had over 150 participants stop by our booth. Needless to say all of our swag was gone. And, we had two high level candidates meet and interview with one of our Florida District Managers; that process is still ongoing.
Overall the event was a success! We were able to make many connections at all levels and hope that we will see some future Sodexo employees come from this conference. The next AHE Conference is scheduled in Phoenix in 2012. Will we see you there? Till our next adventure…
