Career sustainability, professional growth opportunities and work-life balance are Sodexo chef Desmond Fannin’s big three. Desmond, who by the way joined the company as a cook 10 years ago, is currently working as a District Executive Chef within our Education Market. He has been a superstar since he joined the company. Now look at him! I see a guest blog post in the future; perhaps on the topic of “Growing Your Career.”
The benefits he highlighted are very significant but they do not stop at three. There is so much more that makes a chef’s life easier at Sodexo. To highlight that “so much more,” our team set out a few months ago to design a site dedicated to culinary professionals. As a former Sodexo recruiter, I knew many of the benefits; however, it was not until I took the lead developing our new culinary site did I learn even more about the benefits and culture of our culinary professionals. Yet, another added benefit for me was the opportunity to become more acquainted with some of our top chefs in the company. They provided input throughout the project to ensure the site was relevant to our audience and provided me with few cooking and entertaining tips of my own! In addition to a network of over 3000 chefs, there is continuing education, celebrity partnerships, affiliations with top notch culinary institutes and industry associations, and opportunities to flex your culinary muscle for heads of state and other very important people. The list goes on and on.

Rather than create that long list in this post, I encourage you to take a tour for yourself and see what great opportunities Sodexo has in store for top chefs as well as get to know a few of them. Not only does the site highlight all we have to offer our culinary professionals, you can try out a few of our recipes for dinner too. There are even a few international recipes from our Global Chef program. My favorite so far is the Bacon Wrapped Cider Pork Steaks with Apple Relish and Marmalade Sweet Potatoes.
