"Earlier this year, I spotted a position for a senior communications manager at Sodexo on the job board indeed.com. Knowing that communications jobs are often flooded with applicants, I knew I needed to do something different to make myself stand out from the crowd. I wanted to be noticed as a strong contender for the position and a savvy communications professional. Fortunately, my previous job allowed me to experiment and learn the many ways in which a number of social mediums are used for personal, professional and business purposes. So, I decided to put these tools to the test."
I pulled the above excerpt from a guest blog post from last year by Trish Freshwater, Senior Communications Manager with Sodexo’s Talent Acquisition team in the US. In this blog post, Trish shared her Sodexo job search experience. Trish goes into detail about how she used the Sodexo Careers social networking spaces to connect with our recruiters and some of our team senior leaders including our VP of Talent Acquisition, Arie Ball.
The very important connections she made on Twitter and Linkedin are what helped her land a job at Sodexo. That excerpt is also the perfect intro to a new series of blog posts about job seeking from a recruiter’s perspective.
The monthly series is going to called, “If I were looking for a new job I would…” and we will be highlighting one of Sodexo’s senior recruiter or talent acquisition team member at a time. What are the right things to do, what are the wrong things to do, what are the things you didn’t think about doing? The posts may include all of the above or none of the above depending on the recruiter. Regardless, this is your opportunity to gain insight into the world of job seeking from a recruiter’s perspective. After all if you know what a recruiter might do as a job seeker you may begin to understand what YOU need to do if you are looking for a new job at Sodexo or any company for that matter. The series will start… soon. I confirmed our first recruiter volunteer last week!
Maybe we’ll even get Arie Ball, VP of Sodexo’s Talent Acquisition team to contribute, what do you think?

This will be another helpful insight and look forward to the series!
I also look forward to this series...as I applied numerous times with Sodexo, and have been looking for work in the Orange County area in California.
