Keeping Hospitals Healthy – Sodexo Facilities Solutions

By Guest Blogger, Robert E Bridges, CPE, Sr. National Director, Facility Solutions

What makes Sodexo a different kind of company? We believe it’s our focus on creating a safe and effective environment for our clients and their patients and families. The better the patient experience, the better for the whole hospital. Our expertise in facilities and engineering management dates back to 1957. Today, Sodexo manages more than $1 billion in facilities and engineering services for hospitals, nursing homes, colleges, schools, corporations and government clients. Nowhere is Sodexo's commitment to improving the quality of everyday life more deeply felt than in our Health Care accounts.

Facilities and engineering management is a key growth area for Sodexo's future. This key growth area means a variety of job opportunities for past, present and future employees. With 700 sites reaching all 50 states and the District of Columbia Sodexo a great place for your career to grow. As we look forward to meeting the challenges of Health Care Engineering, continuing education is the single most important thing we all need to find time and resources to accomplish. Sodexo supports and promotes education opportunities and certifications for employees. Superior training with diverse learning opportunities specially designed to help facilities and engineering management professionals succeed and grow allow us to provide on-the-job excellence. Perhaps one of the most important aspects to Sodexo’s training is our support and encouragement for employees to belong to and actively participate in professional organizations.

The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association is the largest association devoted to optimizing the health care physical environment. This year the 48th ASHE Annual conference will take place on July 17-20 in Seattle, Washington. This is one of the best conferences that align the education opportunities needed for preparing us to meet the challenges of the future. I know our business needs are pressing, and at times, all-consuming but please don’t forget professional association partnerships encourage life-long learning and professional involvement.

I will be attending the ASHE annual conference later this month in Seattle and I look forward to seeing you there too!

Looking forward to the ASHE Conference in Seattle. I am always impressed with our Healthcare Facilities Engineering group's ability to remain highly technical and leaders in their field as engineers, but also to constantly keep the patient experience at the heart of their work.
