Did you take the Sodexo I.Q(R) Test?

.

by Darla Mayse, Sourcing and Recruitment Marketing Specialist

I am so excited to have the honor of announcing the winner of our Sodexo I.Q.(R) Test today!

We received only 9 legitimate entries. We actually received 10 but one person submitted their answer after the deadline - sorry "Kevin," the rules stated you had to submit your entry before midnight on October 8, 2010 so we couldn't include you in the drawing. I was a little disappointed with the low number of entries but maybe fewer folks are familiar with QR Codes than we thought. I predict this will change in the next 6 months so we might have to run the "contest" again to retest you all. A QR Code is a encoded message matrix barcode read by downloaded applications on smart phones. The encoded message can be text, URL or other data. Be prepared for our next contest and
download a QR Code Reader for your phone now.

To get our winner, we used the number total eligible entries in order of submission date and entered it in over at Random.org.
Random.org is a neat online tool that comes in handy when you need to "pick a winner" and don't want to use the old "eenie meenie miney mo" method. We entered the total number of entries (9) and requested one random number and we were given the number six. See the screen shot above if you don't believe me!

Congratulations Jake Gross - you are our winner!

Jake is fairly new to the Sodexo Careers community and he is a GREAT example of how NOT to be a lazy job seeker. He first reached out to us on
Linkedin to ask about a job at Sodexo and he has since been in touch with one of our recruiters as he continues his Sodexo job search. If you ever read our Facebook Page or our Linkedin discussions you'll notice we ' re helping candidates every day to connect with Sodexo recruiters. Did you read my blog post, "How not to be a lazy job seeker?" In the post, I share with you a few Sodexo job search tips from a recruiter's perspective and how to make a good first impression as a job seeker. If you found it helpful, my next blog post (on October 27) is titled, "Make the most of your second impression: Quick tips for phone interview preparation" - if you are a job seeker you don't want to miss it. Until then...

Darla-

Thank you so much! I am keeping an eye on the job postings on the Sodexo for positions that are near my location. It is very refreshing to see that Sodexo uses social media and multi-channel recruiting methods. As a job seeker, I feel that this provides the best way to get a foot in the door and find the right people to speak with regarding opportunities. Thanks again, and I look forward to joining the Sodexo team!
