Patients really are at the heart of everything we do!
By Guest Blogger, Mel Maycole, Environmental Services GM at Baptist Medical Center in Florida
Many years ago, a Senior Vice President at Sodexo said to me, "Our primary job when we walk into a patient room is to engage the patient." In my view, as a GM for Sodexo Health Care, the single and probably most important way that our staff can influence the patient experience is through their interaction with the patients & families. These views play an integral part in Sodexo's Health Care philosophy of, "Patients are the heart of everything we do."
Employee engagement is as important to us as patient engagement because we know an engaged employee is more likely to be a happy employee. But employee engagement doesn't just magically happen. At Sodexo, we don't just say we care about our employees - we mean it. Which, is why we strive to 'make every day a better day' for employees, our clients, and our patients.
We try to create an environment for employees so they are motivated to live the Sodexo philosophy because, patients really are the heart of everything we do. We support our employees by keeping them informed, involving them in decision making, and ensuring that they understand how they each contribute to the success of the hospital.
Each year, we celebrate Environmental Services Week (September 12-18) with many festivities to recognize our staff and to show them our appreciation. This year at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, we've planned fun events (who doesn't like ice cream?), for each day of the week to honor the employees who "make it all happen" every day.
THANK YOU Sodexo Health Care team!
We are the best in the industry and I am proud to be included in your success!
