By Guest Blogger, Dawn Willis, Sodexo Director of Environmental Services at Clarian Arnett Health.
Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting the Clarian Health System Manager for Labor Analytics and Benchmarking, Patti Medvescek. She was asked to meet with each department director to discuss benchmarking and how we compare to our peer group across the system.
Database? System Manager? You might be wondering what Patti has to do with Environmental Services and our Kudos to the team for a job well done during National Health Care Environmental Services and Housekeeping Week?
Well, when I arrived at my meeting with her that day, I was eager to learn how our particular team stacked up with others in her database.
As soon as I sat down she leaned forward, looked straight at me and said, “Your hospital for ES is the best practice in our benchmarking data base. I just want you to tell me how you and your team have done it.”
She wanted to know how we have been so successful keeping the hospital so clean and ensuring our patient’s are nothing but happy with one of the smaller ES teams in her database. She said, “Your team is so friendly and professional looking and the nursing staff seem to love you! And, I just want you to tell me how it’s done and then if you don’t mind, I would really love it if you could take your show on the road to all of the other facilities in my data base and speak with those ES managers to give them tips on how to achieve what your team has achieved.”
I told her our story was an easy one to share and it begins with our team engagement and the Sodexo’s Engage Program. I told her that it all begins with systems, good leadership and most important an engaged staff. We talked about the importance of employee recognition and what it really means to the bottom line. And then I told her about how proud I am to work with ES Team at Clarian Arnett Health - from the leaders to the frontline employees and all that they have accomplished over the past two years.
Thank you so much ES Team at Clarian Arnett Health and Happy ES Week you are AWESOME!!
