Bob Stern, Sodexo General Council, has been awarded the 2008 Above-and-Beyond Award by Diversity Best Practices and Working Mother Media for his numerous contributions as Executive Sponsor.
This award is presented to just one individual who "in addition to their 'day job,' works tirelessly to increase employee participation, nurture future leaders, and advocate on behalf of the diversity represented by their members."
He will receive the award next month at the NALC, Network and Affinity Congress, that brings together network groups from across corporate America. This year they received dozens of applications.
Sodexo's Employee Network Groups are organized by employees based on their shared experiences. Employees join together to provide a positive forum for professional development, and share input and ideas to support the success of our diversity efforts. Networks are organized around a common dimension of diversity and are created by employees who want to raise awareness in Sodexo of their identity groups. Sodexo's Network Groups include the African American Leadership Forum (AALF), Pan-Asian Employee Network Group (PANG), People Respecting Individuality, Diversity and Equality (PRIDE), Sodexo Organization of Latinos (SOL, Women's Network Group (WiNG), and our newest network group, Sodexo Organization of disAbilities Resources group (SOAR).
Bob serves as Executive Sponsor for our Work/Life Effectiveness initiatives, served as the founding Executive Sponsor for PRIDE, and currently serves as SOAR's Sponsor.
Congratulations Bob on a very well deserved award!
